For today’s show I welcome a conversation with my guest, Aziza Hasan, Executive Director of an organization called NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. We will discuss Aziza’s work through NewGround as well as the advent of The Women’s Mosque of America, which offers women-led monthly Friday prayer services, events, scholarship and leadership opportunities for muslim women of all sects and faiths.
Guest: Aziza Hasanis, the founding director of NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. Her co-founder is Malka Haya Fenivasi. NewGround advances a shared agenda for change by transforming Muslim-Jewish relations through a professional fellowship, high school leadership council and public programming. The two women say they bring people together in dialogue with more than hugs and hummus. NewGround has been featured throughout the Arab press, including in Ha’artez, Pakistani Dawn, Morrocco World News, Egyptian Streets and locally in the Los Angeles Times.
