Dr. Marc Gopin, a leading authority on conflict resolution and the James H. Laue Professor at George Mason University, will join Host, Dr. Pamela Sanders Ellis on a discussion of current events and prospects for peace within ourselves, America, and abroad. Dr. Gopin was ordained as a rabbi at Yeshiva University in 1983 and received a Ph.D. in religious ethics from Brandeis University in 1993. Dr. Gopin is the Director of the new Center on Religion, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University's Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution. He is also a Senior Researcher at the Fletcher School for Law and Diplomacy's Institute for Human Security. Dr. Gopin has lectured on conflict resolution in Switzerland, Ireland, India, Italy, and Israel, as well as at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, and numerous other academic instituteions. Dr. Gopin has trained thousands of people worldwide in peacemaking strategies for complex conflicts in which religion and culture play a role, especially in the Arab/Israeli conflict. He has appeared on numerous media outlets, including CNN, CNN International, Court TV, The Jim Lehrer News Hour, Israel Radio, National Public Radio, The Connection, Voice of America, and the national public radios of Sweden, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Dr. Gopin is the creator and principal author of www.marcgopin.com, a daily weblog exploring the transformation of conflicts facing humanity.
