Please join the Center for the Study of Narrative and Conflict Resolution for an open lecture given by our Scholar-Practitioner in Residence, Dr. John Winslade (PhD) on Monday, April 16. This presentation will address the question of how to listen to conflict narratives in a way that opens the best possibilities for the construction of narratives of change and resolution. It will focus on the foundational importance of double listening, on the generation of questions that help elaborate new narratives, and on the principles of narrative construction.

Dr. Winslade is the Associate Dean of the College of Education at California State University San Bernardino and a Professor of counseling. He brings with him an expertise in narrative approaches to conflict resolution with an emphasis on narrative mediation, narrative therapy, and multicultural counseling. He has been on the Board of Conflict Resolution Quarterly and was a founding member of the Board of the Journal of Conflictology. He is the co-author with Dr Gerald Monk of two books on narrative mediation Narrative mediation: A new approach to conflict resolution; and Practicing Narrative mediation; Loosening the grip of conflict.
