Professor Gopin discussed this weekend's protests, in which Palestinian refugees attempted to cross borders into Israel, an escalation over previous years' Nakba Remembrance protests. Gopin linked the escalation to the Arab Spring and unrest across the region. Gopin sees hope in the new form of nonviolent protest, but also sees a challenge for relations with Israel.
