Irakli Kakabadze

Biography

Irakli Kakabadze is one of the leading contemporary Georgian writers. He is an author of five books and scores of short stories and poems. He received the Oxfam Novib/PEN Award in 2009. This prize is awarded annually to writers and journalists who are persecuted or had to flee because they wielded their pen in a critical manner. Irakli Kakabadze is the author of “Candidate Jokola”, “Compassionata” and number of other books. Currently he is the resident writer at Ithaca City of Asylum and works at Cornell University
