When I was a teenager, I used to complain to my mother that life was boring and I wished that things could be more exciting. Although she would not have said it in these terms, she basically quoted Kohelet to me, saying that there is a time for everything and that I should feel fortunate if periodically there would be special moments in life. Life is routine, she said, and I should be thankful for the opportunity to be alive and healthy.
