A psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and family therapist by training, Dr. Sluzki specializes in systemic and narrative approaches to conflict resolution in families, organizations and other larger systems. His focus of interest includes social networks and health, refugees, and human rights.
He is Professor of Global and Community Health and of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University, as well as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at George Washington University School of Medicine. He has served as consultant at the Office of the Prosecutor, International Criminal Court as well as at the UNHCR, and is a temporary advisor to the World Health Organization.
Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr. Sluzki received his medical and psychoanalytic training in Argentina and his family therapy training in the United States. A Guggenheim Fellow, Dr. Sluzki has held faculty leadership positions in medical schools in California and Massachusetts, has been Editor-in-Chief of three professional journals, and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and of the American College of Psychiatrists. He has published extensively, delivered numerous professional presentations and conducted workshops worldwide.
