“NORMAL” CONFLICT AND IDENTITY POLITICS:
Mosque Siting and Local Controversy
David Laws, Freek Janssens, Ivar Halfman , Amsterdam Centre for Conflict Studies, Department of Political Science, University of Amsterdam
This presentation will analyze local controversies in the politics of integration in Amsterdam, surrounding the construction and use of mosques. This is particularly timely in light of the upcoming congressional hearings on “Radicalization” in the US Congress, and in the context of the New York City Park 51 case, or “Ground Zero Mosque.”
