Middle East Justice and Development Initiatives (Mejdi) won the first place in the Intercultural Innovation Award in ceremonies held in the Qatari capital Doha, according to a press release received by WAFA on Monday.
Mejdi, a local grassroots Palestinian organization, received the award for a project to promote tourism in Jerusalem as an international cultural center and a center for all religions.
The Palestinian radio channel Voice of Peace won the sixth place in the same award.
Founder of Mejdi, Aziz Abu Sarah, received the awards on behalf of both winners.
The Intercultural Innovation Award is sponsored by BMW and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) to identify the most innovative grassroots projects that encourage intercultural exchange around the world.
