I was troubled by the anthropomorphization of the economy in Neil Irwin's Jan. 17 front-page story, "An Economy's Mixed Message on Suffering." The first sentence set the tone by portraying parts of the economy as in recession and noting that "big parts of the economy have suffered little." Bravo for the article's one mention of people -- "construction workers are on unemployment lines."
