Biography

Adriana Selcedo was born in Ecuador, South America. Her academic background is in Anthropology and Comparative Cultural Studies and it is through these lenses that she understands conflict and became interested in the field of Conflict Analysis and Resolution.

Her professional experience has been related with ethnic, social and environmental conflicts in the Amazon basin, the Galapagos Islands and the Andean Region of Ecuador and Bolivia for the past 6 years.

Currently, she is focusing on two areas of research:
1) Border studies as symbolic and geographic spaces where multiple interactions take place, the perfect niche for conflict!
2) A rethinking of the concepts of culture, identity, and the nation in the context of exile, human displacement, refugees camps, etc. My recent research has focused on interrelationships among humanitarian interventions and internationalism in the work of international agencies that work with displaced populations.
