Over the last six months, Friends of Angola (FoA) has been working on developing a social networking mobile application with the purpose of promoting political engagement and good governance between civil society, especially the youth, and their respective governments. The application uses an interactive interface that utilizes tools that helps individuals share political developments or stay informed on updates. The application has five main topics, namely Elections, Politics, Corruption, Violence, and Human Rights, and are designed to provide guidance for the user in terms of the kinds of issues they can post updates on. Governments, civil society groups, business organizations can also respond to posts and help individuals with citizen participation in governance – a first step in any good governance process.
The application is also designed to enable users to engage with issues that they are passionate about and connect with NGO’s and civil society groups, business organizations, and even governments. Through this, users are connected to resources that they can utilize in their engagement with their fight for change. FoA's vision is that their application named Zuela, will help connect all aspects of governance with everyone on the planet to promote the engagement of good and interactive governance.
