Rido: Clan Feuding and Conflict Management in Mindanao addresses clan feuding that takes place in Mindanao (southern Philippines). Rido, or feuding between families and clans, is a type of conflict characterized by sporadic outbursts of retaliatory violence between families and kinship groups as well as between communities. It can occur in areas where government or a central authority is weak and in areas where there is a perceived lack of justice and security. Willy Torres is the editor of Rido: Clan Feuding and Conflict Management in Mindanao and will be presenting about his experiences.
S-CAR's undergraduate program hosts monthly lectures on a variety of topics related to the field of conflict analysis and resolution. We encourage you to bring your lunch as you listen to and engage with our speakers about their current projects and research. Past lectures have been given been S-CAR graduate students, PhD students, faculty members, and conflict analysis and resolution professionals.
