The transatlantic conference “History Education in Conflict and Transitional Societies”
December 2, 2010 through December 4, 2010
The transatlantic conference “History Education in Conflict and Transitional Societies”, George Mason University, December 2-4, 2010.
The conference will facilitate the exchange between scientists from the U.S. and Europe who are working on history education and conflict in various societies and regions. The conference will include comparative analyses of the role of history education in different societies and discussion of intervention projects (for example, common history projects). The aim is to present national and international initiatives in the re-structuring of history education and discuss their impact. The conference will result in the further development of models of impact of history education on processes of conflict resolution and management. Participants will also identify areas where further research is needed to fill scientific gaps. Therefore, they will develop a list of cases where they will conduct evaluation and intervention research aiming to verify and further develop a set of policy recommendations.
