Join Dr. Patricia Maulden and Lisa Shaw to find out about the Liberia Field Experience for Summer 2011.  They will discuss the criteria for participating in the field experience, proposed activities and coursework, and answer questions regarding the experience.  Undergraduate, graduate, PhD and certificate students are encouraged to come and to find out how this four-week program can help bridge the distance between theory and practice.

Post Conflict Peace Building
May 28 to June 26, 2011

9 Credits
CONF 385 (3 credits Field Experience) and CONF 399 (6 credits Special Topics)  OR
CONF 694 (6 credits Master's Internship) and CONF 695 (3 credits Master's Elective)

This unique field experience offers students the opportunity to live and work in post-conflict Liberia.  Student experiences will include:

  • Working directly with youth oriented post-conflict peace building organizations.
  • Facilitating and participating in conflict resolution training workshops.
  • Learning from resident experts about local peace building practices.
  • Exploring the nature, origin, and types of social conflicts in Liberia.

Course Fees: $7,400
