On January 19, 1992, the government of El Salvador signed a UN-brokered peace agreement with the Farabundo Marti Movement for National Liberation (FMLN), ending a bloody 12-year civil war. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the signing of peace accords—considered a model of conflict resolution around the world—the Latin American Studies Program at George Mason University has convened a panel of experts to discuss the legacy of this historic moment and assess progress and challenges in El Salvador today.
This event presented with support from the Center for Global Studies, the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and Global Interdisciplinary Programs
