Abstract:
"When Students Misbehave: Student Discipline from the Insight Approach" is a novel application of Insight conflict resolution strategies to the problem of student discipline and the school-to-prison pipeline. When school staff at one D.C. public charter high school used Insight strategies to recognize student misbehavior as conflict behavior, they were able to develop disciplinary responses that supported students and helped them transform bad behavior, improving their chances at success in school and beyond.
