M.S., Conflict Analysis and Resolution 2002, George Mason University
April 9, 2014 7:00pm through 9:00pm
Please join the Dialogue & Difference Project at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and the Windows From Prison collaborative at George Mason University to discuss Ending Juvenile Incarceration.
Time: Wednesday, April 9th, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Research I, Room 163.
The event will include various policy advocates, researchers, and teens directly affected by the threat and ramifications of teen incarceration. After a short set of presentations, individuals will break up into smaller dialogue groups, each with it's own theme. Utilizing the Dialogue and Difference project's model of facilitated exchange we will work with teens to propose a set of national, regional, local, and community based initiatives for ending the imprisonment of youth.
Speakers Include:
- Ian Kysel, Former Human Rights Watch Fellow, Georgetown University
- Jessica Sandoval, Campaign for Youth Justice
- Sherri Smith and BIll Casey, Northern Virginia Mediation Services
- Melinda Cooperman, Georgetown Street Law Clinic
Windows from Prison events run from April 7 through April 21 on the GMU campus in Fairfax.
Our website and Facebook page offer information on all of our events and other dialogue events occurring throughout the George Mason Community. It is our goal to develop a dialogue community at George Mason University for those students, faculty, and local residents desiring to be involved in promoting communication through understanding one another's socio-cultural perspectives.
Participation in the program is open to all members of the Mason community (students, faculty and staff, and the community).
