Please join us for a dynamic discussion on the future of Africa and the importance of preventative peace building. On April 18, 2016, 72 Africa and the George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) will host this discussion at S-CAR’s Arlington, VA campus.

The event is designed around 6 themes which will include a brief presentaiton, followed by group discussion. Themes include:
- THEME 1: What does sustainable peace look like? What does an environment that leads to sustainable peace contain?
- THEME 2: Every community has a variety of religious structures that bind individuals together in common beliefs. What role can these structures play in building sustainable peace and what is the importance of inter-faith dialogue and action in that process?
- THEME 3: We spend tens of millions of dollars daily in “countering violent extremism.” What should be the priority and emphasis on “preventing” radicalization and extremism? What do those actions look like and what are the metrics of success?
- THEME 4: What are the strengths and limitations of U.S. (or any Western) government involvement at the grass roots? What can NGOs do to lead preventative actions?
- THEME 5: What role can and should companies play in supporting sustainable peace at the grass roots level
- THEME 6: What are the components of education that are critical to creating environments for sustainable peace?
