Omar will discuss his work on human rights and human rights education. Students, faculty and guests are encouraged to attend! Light refreshments will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch as the aim of this gathering is more conversational and less formal.

Omar Grech:
Omar Grech (LL.D., M.A.) is Coordinator of the Human Dimension Programme at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) where he lectures in international law including international human rights law. From 1999 to 2000 he practiced law with one of Malta’s leading law firms. From 2007 to 2009 he was Director of the International & EU Office of the University of Malta. His main interests in international law are: human rights, human rights and development, human rights education as well as the link between human rights and conflict.
Since 2001 he has organized a Human Rights Summer School at MEDAC as well as human rights seminars and workshops. He is also the co-coordinator of the joint Masters programme between MEDAC and the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
Between 2001 and 2007 he was a member of the Human Rights Education Working Group of the Euro-Med Human Rights Network. He has lectured and conducted workshops in Italy, Lebanon, Cyprus, Turkey, Ireland and Croatia.
