Co-Principle Investigator, “Russian Perspective on Islam”, supported by the Luce Foundation.
RPI will deliver an open-access digital archive of approximately 30,000 documents from the end of the Russian monarchy in February 1917 to the current period. The project will also maintain a freely-available Web 2.0 publishing platform that will be capable of delivering digital archives to cross-disciplinary end-users and allow crowd-sourcing, tagging, writing, and editing transcriptions, translations, and scholarly annotation. Project products also include presentations, conferences and consultations; and disseminated curriculum materials and methodological recommendations for teaching. The resultant digital archive will no doubt result in numerous publications in the years after the project’s conclusion. The project will be overseen by an international advisory board comprised of leading specialists on Islam in the US and the former Soviet Union.
