Abstract

In a thoughtful 1989 paper, Dennis Sandole and joseph Scimecca discuss a field of action and scholarship they call Conflict and Peace Studes or "CAPS". They describe this field as a dynamic context that includes conflict analysis, management and resolution; plus peace action education and research .(1989) within that context some of the most important development have been in the areas of conflict analysis and resolution. As cultural anthropologists who have been partu to the creation of a university institute which has taken a leading role in many of these development, we think an account of that role might be interesting to readers of this new journal devoted to political and legal anthropology.
