Conflict Resolution Education (CRE) APT Information Session
M.S., Conflict Analysis and Resolution 2011, George Mason University
B.S., Political Science, University of Montana
April 19, 2011 6:30PM through 7:30PM
If you are thinking about whether or not to sign up for an APT class for next year, please join us to hear about the work of the CRE APT class this year and the possibilities for next year.
The CRE APT class has worked this year to create a foundation for a partnership with District of Columbia Public Schools to support conflict resolution education/peer mediation programming. Next year’s CRE APT group will be able to build on this foundation:
· to look more closely at issues of entry into and collaboration within a complex system, e.g. schools or school systems;
· to explore the role of conflict resolution education as an intervention in a social context with structural inequalities including poverty;
· to learn ways to support CRE using processes of assessment, training, facilitation, and evaluation;
· to apply research findings and theoretical frameworks to CRE programming; and
· to work with children and youth and/or adults who are responsible for their formal education.
Members of 2010-2011 CRE APT class: Catherine Ammen, Mary McGoldrick, Cathy Wague, Hussein Yusuf. Marsha Blakeway, Adjunct Faculty, can be contacted for further information at [email protected] or 202-547-9522.
