Terrorism is wonderful fodder for media, it has all the components of an effective story. Media research around terrorism has focused on the ability of extreme groups to achieve wide spread media coverage by using terrorism, but what we don't know is if that coverage is helpful or harmful to the group's goals. The research being presented looks at differences in how terrorism is covered by the media and the potential impacts of those differences on public opinion and policy makers.
