Nagorno-Karabakh symposium to be hosted by George Mason University

School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University in US is organizing a symposium on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on October 15 2011.
According to the website of the school, the symposium is titled “Assessing the Deadlock in the Nagorno-Karabakh Peace Process, Breaking the Impasse Series Symposium”.
The symposium will address topics such as assessing the deadlock in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, track II approaches to the conflict, perceptions, identity and multi-track diplomacy, as well as improving the effectiveness of track II approaches.
The event will be attended by Varuzhan Nersessian, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Armenia in Washington and Elman Abdullayev from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Also attending the symposium will be Thomas De Waal from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Richard Giragosian, Regional Studies Center from Yerevan and Gulshan Pashayeva, Center for Strategic Studies from Baku, Tabib Huseynov, a regional analyst, and
Phil Gamaghelyan from S-CAR, GMU/Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation.
Among discussants are Tigran Mkrtchyan from Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Taleh Ziyadov from Azerbaijani Diplomatic Academy.
On October 17 the symposium will be followed by a closed door discussion at Carnegie Endowment of International Peace (also hosted by George Mason University) with Thomas De Waal, Phil Gamaghelyan and Tabib Huseynov being the speakers.
